Giovedì 16 giugno la White Noise Gallery inaugurerà “Any Given Book”, seconda edizione del progetto “Any Given”, inaugurato nel 2015 con la mostra collettiva “Any Given Post-It©”.
L’idea del format nasce con l’intenzione di proporre un esperimento sull’essenza stessa dell’opera d’arte, partendo da un oggetto lontano dal concetto tradizionale di fine-art e dal
territorio di ricerca degli interpreti coinvolti.
In questa edizione 47 artisti fra pittori, scultori, fotografi, fumettisti, street-artists e perfino un performer, provenienti da dieci nazioni differenti, sono stati chiamati a confrontarsi con il libro, oggetto comune ma dalla fortissima potenza simbolica ed evocativa.
La sfida è stata raccolta prendendo ispirazione non solo dalla letteratura più alta, ma anche dalle sue declinazioni pop. Sono stati utilizzati libri provenienti da mondi eterogenei: dai testi classici ai fumetti, dalle riviste agli spartiti musicali fino ai grandi testi sacri.
Opere declinate non solo concettualmente intorno alle storie scelte, ma anche fisicamente attraverso lo stravolgimento delle qualità materiali dei libri, arrivando a trasformare completamente l’elemento di partenza.
I visitatori si troveranno di fronte a dipinti, fotografie, sculture, ma anche a diorami, microscopi, labirinti, caleidoscopi, realtà aumentata, specchi d’acqua, costellazioni e radiografie.
Non mancano ovviamente i libri d’artista: in molti si sono cimentati nel creare da zero un manoscritto, cercando di apportare il proprio contributo personale ad un genere ormai
tradizionale, dai rimandi estremamente colti, che ha incrociato la sua strada con quella dell’opera d’arte sin dalla tradizione della miniatura medievale, giungendo indisturbato fino alle creazioni
più recenti.
A metà tra opera letteraria e figurativa, si tratta di libri – non libri, che permettono di entrare in maniera totale nella poetica dei loro creatori.
Quarantasette opere che partono da altrettante storie, starà allo sguardo attento del pubblico
scoprire quali.

On Thursday the 16th of June at the White Noise Gallery will take place the opening of the second edition of the “Any Given” project which started in 2015 with the “Any Given Post-It©” collective show.
The idea behind the project is to propose an experiment on the nature itself of the work of art by imposing to the artists to create their works around ordinary life objects, far from their usual researches and from the traditional fine-art definition.
50 artists among painters, sculptors, photographers, street-artist and performers, coming from ten different countries have been asked, for the second edition of the project, to work on the book, one of the most evocative and symbolic objects from every day life.
The artists accepted the challenge and the inspiration has been coming from literature masterpieces as much as POP icons; from big classics to comic books, from tabloids to musical scores right to the sacred texts.
Each artwork has been created using the book both as a conceptual and physical inspiration, by working around its content and by altering its material construction until a total transformation was achieved.
The show will feature paintings, pictures and sculptures as well as dioramas, microscopes, labyrinths, kaleidoscopes, augmented reality, constellations and radiographies.
Several artist books will be featured as well: many of the artists worked in order to create new books from scratch, trying to give their contribution to a genre that has been widely developed from medieval miniature books until its most contemporary declinations.
Suspended in an ideal balance between literary and figurative works, they are hybrids that enable the viewers to fully explore their creator’s poetic.
Fifty artworks built around 50 different plots, it will be viewer’s duty to discover them all.
